Police Arrested 3 4Ps Beneficiaries After Caught During Illegal Gambling
Police authorities arrested three (3) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries over illegal gambling in Nueva Vizcaya.
The three alleged beneficiaries were reportedly discovered playing tongits in Purok 4, Barangay Bone South, Nueva Vizcaya. Michelle, 46, Jona, 53, and Melinda, 46, had a total of P290 and 10 used playing cards confiscated from them.
Following discovery from social media that a group of ladies, purportedly 4Ps beneficiaries, were spotted playing cards, Police Major Oscar O. Abrogena, the chief of police in Aritao, led the operation against the suspects. Police found the tong-its gamblers in the kitchen of a house.
The evidence was brought to the Aritao Police Station for documentation before the detainees were charged with the corresponding criminal case. Their arrest was seen by the councilors of the aforementioned barangay, based on the report.
Despite the fact that the owner of the searched residence was a confirmed beneficiary, police stated they have yet to determine which of the accused are 4Ps beneficiaries. The three women will still go through the proper channels, according to the police.
Their perspective will be heard, and they will be removed from the list of 4Ps recipients if found guilty. The National Government’s financial assistance should not be wasted on gaming, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and should instead be utilized to purchase one’s essential requirements.
