64 Violators Arrested Over Liquor Ban Implemented on Election Day
Police authorities arrested 64 individuals as alleged violators of the liquor ban implemented on election day, May 9, 2022.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), 64 people were arrested in Quezon City on Sunday, May 8, and election day, May 9, for allegedly breaching the liquor ban. On Sunday, 33 persons were arrested in three separate operations, according to the QCPD Kamuning Police Station (PS 10).
Around 1:30 a.m., 19 of the violators were apprehended on Maunlad and Mabilis Streets in Barangay Pinyahan. Around 1:50 a.m., 11 more were apprehended at Brgy. Central and three more were found in Campupot St. in Brgy. Roxas Dibisyon.
At the corner of Commonwealth Ave. at Simon St. Brgy. Banal na Espiritu the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) apprehended nine accused liquor prohibition violators. Within the same day Around 9:43 p.m. on May 8, Police Station 13 officers detained four persons in Barangay Payatas, while Police Station 15 officers arrested three people in Brgy. New Hope 7:10 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Bahay Toro, the Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) announced the arrest of eight more accused violators. Four persons were detained on Sunday at BS Aquino St. in Sitio Militar at about 6:42 p.m., and four more on Monday at the intersection of Roads 18 and 23.
PS2 operatives from Masabong also apprehended seven people on Monday, two of them in Barangay Bungay around 1:45 a.m. and five more in Barangay San Antonio around 8:30 p.m. All of the suspects will be charged under City Ordinance No. SP-2752, S-2018 (Drinking Intoxicating Liquor in Public Places) in response to Resolution No. 10746 (liquor ban) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
