Duterte Says He Is Willing To Become First Tester Of Russian COVID-19 Vaccine
DUTERTE WILLING TO BECOME TESTER – President Rodrigo Duterte said he is more than ready to try out Russia’s potential COVID-19 vaccine candidate.
Yesterday, Duterte announced that he has accepted Russia’s offer to supply the country with a vaccine. Additionally, as a sign of trust and thanks, he said that he would personally test out the vaccine himself.
According to a report from ABS-CBN, Duterte said:
Maligayang maligaya ako, ang Russia, kaibigan natin ito. Wala tayong away sa Russia, kaibigan natin. Ang ano nila, magbigay sila ng bakuna. Wala naman silang sinasabi na bayaran mo.
Ako, pagdating ng bakuna, in public, para walang satsat ‘yan, in public, magpa-injection ako. Ako ‘yung maunang ma-eksperimentuhan.
Based on projections from researchers in Russia, their candidates for the COVID-19 vaccine could become available for mass production within September or October. With this in mind, Duterte hopes that the Philippines may return to normal by December with the vaccine under production.
