HOLY WEEK 2019: Holy Saturday Prayer for April 20, 2019
HOLY SATURDAY PRAYER – Here is a prayer for today, April 20, 2019, as we observe the Black Saturday of the Holy Week 2019.
Today, April 20, 2019, we are observing the Black Saturday or the Holy Saturday. It is part of the Holy Week, a commemoration of the death of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, Who came to Earth to save us.
On April 18 and April 19, we observed the Holy Thursday and the Good Friday respectively. Church activities were held including masses about the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ.
Processions also took place commemorating the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ and His way to the Cross. Today, most Catholic churches are closed and it will be opened on the eve of the Black Saturday.
Here is a Holy Saturday prayer for today, April 20, 2019 as we commemorate the great love of God for humans and the sacrifice made by the Son of God:
“O God, we are deeply sorry for all the pains that we have caused You and all those that led Your Son, Jesus Christ, to the Cross. You have sent Him from the Heavens to the Earth to save mankind – we who are never worthy of Your love. But You have chosen to love us and give us eternal life that surpasses death. Forgive us, Father, for all our shortcomings and cleanse us from all of it – the pains, the hatred, in thoughts, words, and deeds. We await the rising of Your Son Jesus Christ as we ask for newness in life filled with love, compassion, and humility. O Son of God, forgive us for what You had to endure. Your love for the Father and the mankind has saved the world. May You continue to guide us in this life and the life to come. Let the Holy Spirit live within us, forever and ever, Amen.”
