‘Mega’ Drug Rehab Facility In Nueva Ecija To Be Inaugurated By Duterte

Pres. Duterte to Inaugurate the ‘Mega’ Drug Rehab Facility in Nueva Ecija

MEGA – The ‘Mega’ Drug Rehabilitation Center in Nueva Ecija will be inaugurated today by Pres. Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte.

Along with the increasing number of drug users and pushers who have surrendered to the authorities is the challenge for the government on how to provide assistance to them. Nevertheless, the government has assured to help them in their self-reformation.

Pres. Duterte has signed Executive Order No. 4 to provide support for the drug rehabilitation centers for the patients. A ‘mega’ drug rehabilitation facility funded by a Chinese national has also been recently constructed in Nueva Ecija and this month is the target date of the opening of the drug rehab facility.

Chinese philanthropist Huang Rulun was the one who paid for the rehab facility according to a previous news report. It is also stated that Rulun has a net worth of $3.9 billion as estimated by Forbes magazine.

In a recent news report in Phil Star Global, it is stated that the ‘mega’ drug rehab facility that can accommodate around 10,000 drug patients is already set for inauguration today and Pres. Duterte will be the one who will inaugurate the new drug rehab facility.

Based on the news report, Eric Tayag, the spokesperson of the Department of Health, has expressed that the drug rehab facility will be accommodating around 2,000 drug patients from overpopulated rehab centers as its first set of patients.

Furthermore, it is stated that the drug patients will be from the drug rehab centers in Tagaytay, Dagupan, Bicutan, and Bataan.

DOH Secretary Paulyn Ubial expressed, “The patients are actually victims of the illegal drug trade, so we want to ensure that they are provided adequate and compassionate services for rehabilitation.”

According to the DOH Secretary, around 1,000 personnel have been hired for the drug rehab center.
