P5-B Remitted By PAGCOR To Fund The Restoration OF ‘Botika Ng Bayan’

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) remitted P5 billion to restore ‘Botika ng Bayan’ to provide free medicines for the less fortunate people.

Medicine is one of the most important stuff in our homes in this modern days. Medical experts also prescribed certain brands or types of medicines for various kinds of diseases which helps our body to recover from sickness.

People with serious diseases requires daily medicine intakes but for the less fortunate people find difficult to sustain their daily medicines and supplements, because some medicines have high costs.

‘Botika Ng Bayan’

Due to poverty a lot of Filipinos were not able to buy the medicines that they needed. Serious diseases require an effective medicine for fast recovery but those medicines are quite expensive and non-affordable so several government agencies are making efforts to address this problem.

P5 billion was allocated by the state gambling regulator in reviving the program ‘Botika ng Bayan’. This program aims to help the poor by providing free medicines for them. BNB will be operating nationwide, especially in the areas where medicines were very necessary.

On Wednesday (November 30, 2016), Arnell Ignacio, assistant vice president of the community relation and services department of PAGCOR made the announcement.

“Ang gusto ni Presidente, kapag ang pasyente ay binigyan ng reseta, ito ay maibili ng libre. We may be doing the same project of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo before, so ikakalat all over the Philippines ‘yung Botika ng Bayan,” said by Ignacio in a press conference quoted by ABS-CBN.

Ignacio explained that President Duterte will be the one to decide how will he distribute the entire amount. PAGCOR also plans to use the turned over funds to Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, and Philippine General Hospital.

The official also said that last September 2016, around P45 million has been allocated for the Dangerous Drugs Board.
