American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in Manila, will this spark talks about rematch with Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao?
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is visiting Manila on May 7 as it was revealed on Instagram through Manny Pacquiao’s videographer Wendell Cunanan.
Cunanan, a Filipino Los Angeles based videographer, was with the American boxing superstar in Thailand yesterday.
“I’m on my way to the Philippines. I can’t wait,” the boxing champ said, based on the article published in The Philippine Star.
According to Cunanan, Mayweather is stopping by the country but not to talk about business.
“I love the Philippines. I love all the fans. Thanks,” the American boxer admitted. This comes from the fact that a few members of his team are Filipinos.
Mayweather’s female assistant named Kitchie and videographer, James Dayap, are Filipinos, while Cunanan found his way to the American boxer.
“This is my Filipino team. I have a Filipino team. This is my Asian team,” richest athlete ever said.
Cunanan did not reveal the real purpose behind the visit of the boxer who fought UFC king Conor McGregor in August 2017 and stretched his ring record to 50-0.
However, reportedly, it will spark talks of a rematch between him and Pacquiao.
“The Philippines. Floyd Mayweather is on his way to Manila. Get ready. I’m on my way,” the American boxer said.
The Filipino videographer said that he has been trying to contact the Filipino boxing champ but the latter did not answer his phone call.
Pacquiao, who is being tagged as the Pambansang Kamao, is currently in General Santos City.
The Pinoy boxer is in training for his fight with Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur this coming July 15.
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao last boxing fight was three years ago and it was tagged as the “Fight of the Century” which earned $400M in revenues, including a record 4.6M pay-per-view hits, based on the source
