Pacquiao Still Open For 2016 Rio Olympics

Manny Pacquiao Might Be In The Rio Olympics.

After Manny Pacquiao’s decision to end his 21-year career in boxing, many are still wanting him to come back in the ring even in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Manny has already stated in recent reports that he wanted to join the Olympics if the opportunity shows itself.

In a report in Inquirer, The Abap executive director Ed Picson said in a statement quoted in the article, “Will the first Olympic gold be a cinch if Manny fights in Rio?”

The Philippines has not yet to score a gold medal since it joined the Olympics in 1924.

The director even said that having Manny Pacquiao in the Olympics will still have no assurance of getting the desired gold.

According to the director, there will only be 3 rounds for the amateur boxing bouts and being a volume punchers is a plus. Fortunately, the eight-division world boxing champion is a known volume puncher.

“Younger, stronger, faster boxers from all over the world. Manny is 37, his major edge over his opponents is experience,” said Picson as quoted in the article.

He also added that the competition will be stiffer if the professionals will be then allowed to join the Olympics.

But, the director said that the AIBA has not yet opened the competition for professionals yet. And maybe, the federation is just waiting for Pacquiao’s “Yes” to join the Rio 2016.

Picson also added that Pacquiao will make his final decision in a few weeks.

Will Pacquiao really come and join the Olympics?

What will be the future of the Olympics?

If ever, can Pacquiao really win the desired gold medal?
