Youth Group ‘Kalayaan Atin Ito’
Youth – Nationalism and patriotism is a way of showing love for one’s country. A country’s identity is identified through traditions, culture, beliefs and religions and most importantly the togetherness and unity of the people in it. Our history is full of love and bravery, as our history speaks, our heroes stood and fought to preserve the Filipino identity and achieve independence.
And this video below proves how our youth today adopted this kind of attitude of being patriots of our nation, our home, our land, our territory. Just recently, a group of Filipino youth ‘Kalayaan Atin Ito’ showed bravery and patriotism as they have successfully planted the Philippine flag at the most controversial territory in the West Philippine Sea, the Scarborough shoal in commemoration of the country’s 118th Independence Day.
As expected, Chinses Coast Guard ships would block them as they attempted to plant the Philippine flag on the shoal to show that the country still has sovereignty over the disputed shoal.
‘Kalayaan Atin Ito’ also attempted to plant the UN flag to highlight the Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The expedition was a success despite the encounter between Chinese Coast Guard and the group according to an American witness.
