The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued its latest weather advisory, warning of continuous heavy rains in parts of Northern and Central Luzon due to the intensified Southwest Monsoon or “Habagat.”

From today until noon on June 1, 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall are expected in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Zambales, La Union, Apayao, Abra, Bataan, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands. The rainfall is expected to persist from tomorrow noon until Monday noon (June 2), affecting most of these areas again, except for Apayao and Abra.
Heavier rains are forecast from Monday noon to Tuesday noon (June 3), with rainfall levels still expected at 50 to 100 mm. This extended forecast includes Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands. PAGASA noted that rainfall could be more intense in mountainous or elevated locations, and the impacts may be worsened by prior rain that has saturated the ground.
Due to this, the public is strongly advised to stay alert and heed updates from their local government and PAGASA Regional Services Divisions. Localized Heavy Rainfall Warnings and Thunderstorm Advisories may be issued in affected areas for more accurate and time-sensitive updates.
PAGASA also reminded the public of the key difference between a Heavy Rainfall Warning and a Weather Advisory. A Heavy Rainfall Warning provides precise, short-term forecasts (within the next three hours) using Doppler radar data and can pinpoint conditions down to the municipal level. In contrast, a Weather Advisory covers a 24-hour forecast but is less specific, only issued at the provincial level.
Additionally, General Flood Advisories have been released as of 6 PM, May 31, for several regions:
- CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region) – GFA #4
- Region I (Ilocos) – GFA #5
- Region II (Cagayan Valley) – GFA #5
- Region III (Central Luzon) – GFA #3
- Region X (Northern Mindanao) – GFA #35 (Final)
- BARMM – GFA #37
