The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued its 5:00 PM weather bulletin today, May 22, 2025, highlighting the continued influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) over Mindanao. Meanwhile, the ridge of a High Pressure Area (HPA) is extending its effect over extreme northern Luzon, and the easterlies continue to affect the rest of the country.

Mindanao is expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought about by the ITCZ. PAGASA warns of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall, especially in areas with significant antecedent rainfall. Affected provinces from today through tomorrow afternoon include Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and the Davao and Maguindanao regions. From tomorrow afternoon until Saturday afternoon, similar conditions are expected to persist across Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and nearby provinces.
In contrast, Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the ridge of the High Pressure Area. No significant weather impacts are expected in these areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines will generally see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly during the late afternoon or evening. These conditions are due to the presence of easterlies. Although the rainfall is expected to be isolated, PAGASA cautions the public about the possibility of localized flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Wind conditions across Luzon and the Visayas will be light to moderate, blowing from the east to southeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 1.5 meters). Similar conditions are forecast over Mindanao, with winds coming from the southeast to northeast.

Today’s recorded temperatures ranged from a minimum of 25.3°C at 4:30 AM to a high of 34.4°C at 11:00 AM. Relative humidity varied between 47% and 84%.
PAGASA reminds the public and disaster response agencies to stay alert for rainfall advisories, especially in Mindanao. The next weather advisory is scheduled for release at 11:00 PM, unless significant changes in weather patterns occur earlier.
