Vice Ganda’s Twitter Outburst About “Dolphy Award” Prompts FAMAS To Explain

FAMAS was prompted to explain regarding the “Dolphy Award” Vice Ganda had a Twitter outburst about it.

Comedian and host Vice Ganda had an outburst on Twitter just recently after he stumbled upon an article which sort of questioning his worthiness to be the recipient of first ever  FAMAS’ Dolphy Award.

His series of tweet created a loud bang as he publicized what he felt towards the write up, based on a previous article.

With regards to his Twitter posts, Gorgy Rula, the columnist who wrote the cause of his rant on social media, answered back and said that it was just his opinion. Since it was his own opinion, he knows that there were those who will agree and disagree to it, as what was mentioned in a previous article.

In line with this havoc over an award, FAMAS was prompted to explain the surrounding circumstance why the Dolphy award will be given to Vice Ganda.

Based on the article published in Pilipino Star Ngayon, the head of jury, Ricky Lee said that he was not among the members of the jury who chose the recipient of the said award.

“Jury head lang ako nung sections sa full-length feature, documentary at short films, at kasali ako sa committee na pumili kay Lav Diaz para sa lifetime achievement award niya. Ibang FAMAS committee ang pumili ng para sa Dolphy award. Hindi ako kasama dun,” he said.

Furthermore, FAMAS President Francia Conrado stated that, ““Other than the fact that Vice Ganda deserves this special award, Vice is the personal choice of the family of the late King of Comedy.”

The son of the King of Comedy, Eric Quizon, who is also a director, is currently in Hong Kong and his official statement regarding on the standard how Vice Ganda was chosen to be awarded with Dolphy Lifetime Achievement Award is not yet explained.

Based on the source, the said standard or qualifications for an award must be cleared out for the benefit of the recipients on the years to come.
