Netizens Furious At Coffee Project After Cynthia Villar’s Insensitive Statements
NETIZENS FURIOUS AT COFFEE PROJECT – Cancel culture prevails on Twitter as netizens urge others to stop supporting Coffee Project.
Earlier, Senator Cynthia Villar made another controversial statement, this time, it was about health care workers. Much like her other statements, netizens were quick to call out the Senator for insensitive remarks, especially during a time of crisis.
Medical workers called out the government and asked for a time out as coronavirus cases balloon to almost 100,000. But, despite the massive rise in cases, Metro Manila and other critical areas still remain under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
As a response to the medical community’s request, Villar said:
“Hindi na siguro, pagbutihin nila trabahon nila. Hindi pwedeng isara ang ikonomiya kasi kung di naman mamatay sa COVID, mamatay naman sa gutom ang tao.“
This obviously didn’t sit well with the overworked medical frontliners who risk their lives to save thousands of Filipinos on a daily basis. So, netizens took to Twitter and urged others not to go to the COFFEE PROJECT, a Villar-owned establishment.
Here are some of thoughts of netizens on Twitter:
I forgot what I tried in COFFEE PROJECT but it was yuck. I’d -literally- put dozens of sugar & cream but it was so bitter af! Feel ko pinagtripan ako nung mga server bc i’m w a foreigner aka my fiancé that time. Bitter sila ateng. That was in their branch near the Swedish Embassy
I will never set foot in any Coffee Project branches ever again.
