Bloating happens when your belly feels enlarged after eating. What are its causes?
At some point, you can’t identify foods that can cause you bloating yet you still keep on eating those foods. Is there an alternative to that?
What foods are responsible for keeping you bloat? Here are some of the foods that can cause you bloating and what to eat instead.
Beans
Beans are one of the types of legumes that contain high amounts of protein and healthy carbs, and it is also very rich in fiber as well as several vitamins and minerals. It also contains sugars called alpha-galactosides, which belong to a group of carbs called FODMAPs (fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols). Instead of beans, you can eat either grains, meat or quinoa.
Carbonated Drinks
Carbonated drinks contain high amounts of carbon dioxide (a gas), which can cause bloating. When you drink one of these beverages, soda, for instance, you may end up swallowing large amounts of this gas. Instead of drinking carbonated drinks, drink a lot of water. You can also drink coffee, tea, or fruit-flavored still water instead of carbonated drinks.
Apples
An apple a day keeps a doctor away, but too many apples you eat can cause you bloating. Apples have fructose (which is a FODMAP) and the high fiber content that can both be fermented in the large intestine. As an alternative, you can eat other fruits such as bananas, blueberries, grapefruit, mandarins, oranges, or even strawberries.
Beer
Drinking a lot of beers can cause you to have increased belly fat as well as can cause you bloating. According to an article, “beer is a carbonated beverage made from sources of fermentable carbs like barley, maize, wheat, and rice, along with some yeast and water“. Once you drink beer, you can have carbon dioxide and fermentable carb intake and may cause you bloating. Instead of drinking beers, drink water. You can drink red wine or white wine as alternatives.
Bloating is one of the common problems you may encounter, but can often be resolved with relatively simple changes.
