Bishops Question Digong’s Fitness

Catholic Bishops have thrown queries to the people to help them decide on the kind of president the country really needs.

The joke thrown by the presidential candidate Davao Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte about the incident that happened to an Australian Missionary was bashed by other people. From the side of the church, bishops questioned the fitness of the man to lead the country.

The joke thrown during the hostage crisis in 1989 gave spark to an issue that trend nationwide.

Now, some Catholic bishops have thrown queries that would make one dig further to the qualities of a president that the Philippine needs.

Surveys prove that Duterte is the bet of the many of the Filipinos. But is he really the right choice for presidency? The question raised by the head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines or CBCP.

A link that directs to the video of the incident that happened to the Australian Missionary, Jacqueline Hamill, was posted by the Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, Socrates Villegas, to serve as people’s guide on deciding whether the man suits the highest position or not.

Following the video was Archbishop Villegas’ challenge to the citizenry to really scrutinize and judge for themselves if Mayor Digong is the right choice.

Further, he said he will keep his judgment to himself and hopes that the video will serve as an eye-opener to many.

The trending remark of Mayor Digong aroused a lot of commentaries and even his fellow presidential aspirants did not allow it to pass.

The social media was even flooded by speculations, personal opinions, and other issues behind the matter over the surface.

The president is the representation of the country in international conferences and assemblies thus people must also choose for someone who carries with him the true Filipino conduct.

Recently, the Archbishop of Cebu City threw an advice to the Filipinos. He said that Filipinos should elect the kind of leader that is decent enough to represent the country as he/she will be facing leaders of the other countries.
