Votes Cast for BBM Allegedly Goes to Leni Due to Defective VCMs
Voters in some parts of the Philippines complained about defective Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) where votes cast for Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr (BBM) go to VP Leni Robredo.
Ilocos Norte, the said Marcos strongholds in Northern Luzon and Cavite are said to have had vote anomalies. The UniTeam camp stated that the complaints stemmed from faulty VCMs, which purportedly credited Marcos’ votes to his opponent, Vice President Leni Robredo.
The woman who traveled from Manila to her precinct in Trece Martires City, Cavite, was surprised while recalling the alleged anomalies that occurred while she was voting, according to a video recorded by a worried netizen. When the voter read the receipt, she was surprised to see Leni as her president and Kiko Pangilinan as her vice president.
She apparently went to the police station right away to report what had transpired. The woman also displayed a receipt that had allegedly been tampered with. The video went viral on social media and received a variety of responses.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time a candidate’s VCM receipt has been released incorrectly. A citizen in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, recently claimed that his receipt contained the wrong candidate.
Reymar Racacho, 50, of Barangay Quinarayan Narvacan, filed a formal complaint with the Narvacan PNP alleging that presidential candidate Leni Robredo allegedly presented the receipt in the VCM despite the fact that he circled Marcos Jr. on the vote. According to the COMELEC precinct finder, Racacho is a registered voter.
Racacho’s complaint is currently being investigated by the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) and the Commission on Elections. According to the UniTeam campaign, irregularities were reported by voters in the communities of Narvacan and Sta. Ilocos Sur’s Cruz and Burgos, and Kalinga’s Tabuk City.
