Bangladesh Ambassador To Philippines Wants To Get Back The $81M Stolen From Their Banks
Bangladesh Ambassador to the Philippines Maj. Gen. John Gomes wants to get the still not yet returned $81 million stolen from their banks that went from RCBC, went before casinos and some private individuals in the Philippines.
In the seventh and final hearing of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee headed by Sen.Teofisto Guingona in Bayview Park Hotel in Roxas Blvd., Gomes questioned, what would be the point to show them the part of the returned money if it will not be returned for them.
“Three to five months (to return the money) is very, very long. We expect no opposition. If Kim Wong is giving the money, how can he oppose?,” Gomes asked.
In the report of philstar, Gomes pointed out that the Bangladesh is the only claimant of the money and they are hoping to fulfill the first promise to return the stolen finances.
Gomes insisted, it will be a slap in his face if the money will not be retrieved and it will be very long if they had to wait another three to five months. But he knows and was ready to follow the legal process in the Philippines for the turn-over of the money.
Gomes also said, they believe that there is still a part of money in Philrem and to Weikang Xu and asked to return the money.
According to Anti-Money Laundering Council Executive Director Julia Bacay-Abad, they already account the $60M stolen money from Bangladesh and $21M are still missing.

If the $17M million to combined at $21M, it appears to be $38M which was not yet been found in the stolen $81M.
The officials of Philrem has no-show to the hearing which said to be has the hold of $17M.
